Counteract Your Fight Or Flight Response By Doing This!
In every day life we have many, many moments where our nervous system is activated and we go into fight or flight response.
This can be stress at work, home, in traffic. But oftenour bodies are resnding excessively with what is a primary primitive saftey mechanism to dangerous situations like having to run away from or fight a bear for example.
I’d bet money that most of us have never enountered a bear we’ve had to defend ourselves against, however we as humans and the world we live in react to the stresses and strains of everyday life and the more stress we have the more activated the system becmoes, having our body believe we are actually in mortal danger as opposed to just late no a deadline or forgot the wifes birthday, although that could also be mortally dangerous.
Try this, whatever triggered your stress….
Use your index finger and gently close one nostril. Inhale deeply, counting to 4, filling your belly and ribs outward like you’re blowing up a balloon internally.
Big belly. Nobody cares.
Switch nostrils and exhale slowly for a 4-8 count.
Staying here, inhale deeply as above.
Then switch again for the exhale.
Breathing in deeply on one side.
Exhaling deeply and slowly through the other side.
Repeat.
Breathing in healing relaxation.
Breathing out pain, trauma, stress….
Let me know how you get on!
